IBD UK, the BSG, and the IBD Registry are working together to co-ordinate efforts on IBD Quality Improvement (QI)

We are aware that there may be some confusion about the relationship between the different QI efforts for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Many of you will have received email communications from IBD UK, the BSG, and the IBD Registry about seemingly disparate QI themes.

We want to reassure you that we are all working together to co-ordinate these efforts. We think that it is vital that we safeguard your time as much as possible to ensure that any effort that you make is not duplicated and any data that you generate is directly useful to you to support your QI work. We firmly believe that this will help you make a difference to patient care. Currently in general terms, IBD UK will focus on the benchmarking and patient survey, the BSG will focus on patient level KPI data, and the IBD Registry will be leading and coordinating data collection for these efforts. We will provide greater specific details on each stream as they near the collection phase, but these are complimentary with no overlapping data collection. Data collected also satisfies the BSG Quality Standards Framework.

We are working to finalise the data collection tool for the next benchmarking and patient survey. This is a great opportunity to see how you have improved since the last round. We are trying to ensure that each data point can relate to a QI target to ensure that your time is being used to the best effect. We will be in touch with you all individually to give further details, but please discuss with your teams in preparation for this. Ideally, we would like every team in the country to take part and we are really very grateful to you for all of your efforts. Together we can make a difference!
